A weekend full of celebrations.

What a weekend! Full of celebrations with Nate's 4th birthday (yes he really is already 4) and Mothers DayFriday night Nige and Renee were busy with the cake. That afternoon Renee had made a chocolate mud cake (yum), and Nige was making Marshmallow Fondant icing for the first time. An experience in itself. A lovely and sticky mess, and a lot of red food dye was needed. Nige even ran out and had to get more supplies. It was a bit of a giggle applying it to the cake, felt like we were playing with play-do. But it was a success and we were happy with the result. The icing was a lot nicer (and easier to spread) then the buttercream icing.

Nate was all excited about his birthday and could not wait for the day to come. He was up early Saturday, and however he did not ask for his presents (maybe he does not understand that birthdays = presents yet) but all he wanted to do was get up to see the tv towers up in the Dandenongs.

WhileRenee had to go out and return the cake tin we had hired to make Nate's cake, Nige and the kids stayed at home. Tahlia had gone quiet for a while and Nige found her with her lip balm and applying it to her lips. She had the right area but applied a little too much. Great 21st material.

Tahlia and her lip balm.

It had been drizzling most of the morning but cleared up as we headed up the Dandenongs. It was rather pretty when we got to the top, all misty with the low cloud. Nate was amazed to how tall the tv towers were and both kids kept getting watery eyes and dizzy from looking up so high. Nate even stated "When are we going to climb to the top". Always ready for an adventure that one.

The end of the tower is somewhere, way up there.

The boys in my life.

My little bear all rugged up.

We all went for a walk around the towers, the boys up the front doing "boys things" and Nate came out with "Gee it's peaceful out here". Glad to see he is starting to have a love for the bush just like his parents. He already loves walking.

Nige is off hiking over Queens Birthday with the boys and Nate overheard them talking about it and said to Nige "Now that l am a big boy (being 4 you know is big) l can come with you hiking". To which Nige replied "it will be too cold for you to come". It will be a 3 day hike and rather cold overnight. Nate thought about it and then quite senisble of him and replied "Daddy l do have a warm jumper to keep me warm. Funny kid... Maybe on the next hike Nate.

Misty Mountains.

Hiking thru the hills.

Next was Silvan dam to find some autumn leaves to run through. The sun was now out and had warmed up a bit, not that the kids cared. They just saw an open space which meant "let's run".

Cute Tahlia
