The rest of our trip...

It's taking sooo long to try and find time to fit all this in so will try and catch up now.

Victor Harbour did a day trip to the lovely little town of Victor harbour and went to Granite Island. A very popular tourist holiday spot.

Tram car. Took a ride on this on the way back. The kids both loved sitting on top with the sea breeze in their hair.

Tahlia says hello to the horse

Warrawong Animal park. This place was great and free to go in and have a look at the animals. We did pay a small fee to see a animal show which was a hit with all of us. Both the young and the old. Nige and l even got to hold a python. And no l am not scared of snakes.

Bandicoot

Nate and a wallaby

McCleod's Daughters. Did some searching on the net to find where they filmed some of this show. I just love the show. The homestead was private property but with the help of the GPS we were able to get up the back and take a peek.

Catching up with friends. Spent an evening with some friends that l know from a parent's forum. The kids had a ball playing together. Thanks for the great evening Kirst.

Port Adelaide & Adelaide Hills

We spent our first 2 days in Adelaide seeing the sights.

We spent a day with Aunty June in Port Adelaide. She suggested we head out on the river on a dolphin sight seeing cruise. We were joined with a few other tourists and a bunch of school kids all excited in seeing some dolphins (the school kids that is).

It was a lovely ride up the river seeing what Port Adelaide had to offer now and in the past. We saw one dolphin at the start of the cruise but after that l think they were all hiding. Wonder if the excited school kids had anything to do with that.

After spending an hour or so on the river we got back and our bellies were rumbling ( must have been all that fresh air) so off to Fasta Pasta for a meal. It was lovely to catch up with Aunty June who had just been to New Zealand so had plenty to share about her trip.

Maybe that is where we will head next... (can't we dream at least).

Both kids were tired after lunch so we bid farewell to Aunty June and went back to where we were staying so the kids could have a nap.

Our second day in Adelaide we spent up in the Hills and meeting one of Renee's friends from a parents forum she is part of. We had a lovely morning with Kathy, Tony and their little girl Tess. Tess is the same age as Nathan and they had a ball together.

We met at the Giant Rocking horse, and they have a animal park there where you can feed the animals. As we were the first ones there the animals followed us along trying to grab the food. It was so cute to watch Nathan and Tess, they were like the Pied Piper with the pellets.
And were a big hit with the kangaroos, peacocks, geese, ducks, chickens to name a few.

All was well till a emu came along and was quite certain of what it wanted. For those who may not know Renee hate's emus and they do not like her either. But just as well Tony was there who knew how to handle the emu and kept it at bay from us all.

We wandered around and met a beautiful little wallaby, l could have taken it home. It was so friendly and so soft to touch. Both Nate and Tess loved to cuddle it. We spent some time feeding the little wallaby and then thought time for us to get some food.

But on the way back we came face to face with the horrid emu and it chased Renee. But ah l made it thru the gate and could stare back at the emu and laugh. hmmm hope it does not remember me next time.

We had something to eat in the cafe and watched the kids playing together with the toys in there. They all got along so well. After we all fuelled up again we all went to the Melba chocolate factory (and yep left plenty of room for chocolate and other samples).

Brought some much needed chocolate and then bid farewell to Kathy, Tony and Tess. Was lovely to meet them all.

The kids fell asleep in the car (all that feeding animals must have worn them out) so we drove around Mt Lofty, and surrounds and then headed to Harbour Town which is a bit like DFO.

Walked around the beach, had some dinner and then went to watch the sunset over the beach. Another day on our holiday.

Our South Australian Break

Well back from our time in Sunny South Australia and our adventures over there. Will take some time to let you catch up on our trip and the many photos we took...lol (so bare with us). But hope you enjoy sharing in our trip, and you feel a part of our adventure.

Here goes....

We left about 4am in the morning, it was cool and trying to rain. Darn l thought we had already put in our "ideal weather" for the next week and a bit.
On the way we had to stop via a friend of Nige's who kindly lent us a DVD player which worked out great for the kids. I have never seen Nathan so fixed on it. But we were soon sick of hearing the "Thomas the tank" theme song every 5 mins.

We stopped at Ballarat around 7am and had some breakfast and some time where the kids could run around. But it was very overcast and a very cool 10C (it was warmer at home) so we thought the indoor macca's playground would be the best place for the kids.

So they spent the next 1/2 hour running around and using up their energy (well Nathan did). Then back in the car and off we go!

The weather was shocking for the next few hours, rain and wind. Making it very hard to see where we were going.

We stoped in Mt Gambier for lunch and we were most upset as it was teaming down and freezing. We were at the Umpherston sinkhouse and the gardens were beautiful. We had been looking forward to seeing them. But nothing that a warm and waterproof coat that would stop us.

We did not spend as long as would have liked to but the weather was just too horrid to stay outside any longer, plus Tahlia just wanted to get down and crawl, nice and muddy though.

We then drove the next 3 or so hours to our first place to sleep and the kids slept the whole 3 hours. Nice and bliss for us, and we enjoyed a audio book on the road.

We got to Robe around 3 in the afternoon and found our cabin for the night. Unpacked what we needed and then went to explore the little historical town. Was still raining here and quite windy so Nige and l did all the photos while the kids watched from the car.

Fish and Chips for tea (a must have down by the beach) and then an early night for the weary travellers).

It had poured all night and was raining when we left in the morning. Did another quick trip around Robe's township and took some more photos of the historical buildings. The drive from Robe to Talim Bend was very pretty but no time to stop (well the was more because of the rain and wind).

The rain had stopped by the time we got to Talim Bend and we thought we would make the most of it and have lunch by the Murray River, watching the little car ferry come and go. And another place for Nathan to use all of his energy up after sitting in a car for so long.

We arrived at Semaphore in the early afternoon and spent the rest of the afternoon setting up our home (tent) for the next 8 or so days.
