A morning in the park

The have re-vamped the park in Montrose and l have to say what a change it has made. There had been a story in the local newspaper. As it was a clear, but cool morning we thought we would make the most of it and check out this new park. We were very impressed and the kids took off to explore as soon as we got there.

As it was a public holiday there were a lot of kids and their parents there checking out the new park.

Nathan had to check out the fire engine as the first thing to do. Here he is as a fire fighter. Watch out here he comes.

They had someone in with some real artistic skills and painted some of the "shops" at the park. To make it look like some of the little shops in the main st of Montrose. Very nice l must say and beats the graffiti.

One of the paintings.

yum chocolates. (there is a great little chocolate shop in Montrose).

Tahlia down the slide.

It was rather hard to keep an eye on both kids at the same time. They both kept going seperate ways and l felt l certainly needed an extra pairs of eyes. But there was just too many things to try out and why stop when there is too much to do.

Nathan even had time to stop and "sell" me some chocolates.. Ah just what the dr ordered.

This bridge was a tricky one and needed a lot of concentration. Nate had one episode where his leg went down one of the holes. He needed mummy to help get him out but he went back and made it thru again and again. What a little trooper.

I loved the background behind this slide of the forest. The artists have done a super job.

Now a test to see who could go higher and faster at the same time.

Once we took this photo the weather turned cold and we had been there for about an hour so thought it was time to go home and get some lunch and wait for daddy to come home from his hike. Just as well too as soon as we got in the car it rained.

We stopped in the bakery on the way home and the roads were very wet and it seems it had been raining for some time down the mountains. Anyone who is near Montrose should check this park out. Even the BIG kids at heart will love it. There are also little picnic tables in the bush setting to have a picnic or a warm drink.

The long weekend

The Queens Birthday weekend Nige and Keith (Renee's dad) did a 3 day canoe trip along the Murray up near Barmah. While they did that Renee was home with the kids for the 3 days. Just as well as it was one trip Renee did not want to go on. Renee has a fear of water sports, plus it was too cold.

Storytime. "The first night at home as daddy was not hear to read to us, l had to stand in and take his place and read the story to my little sister" says Nate " Mummy was kind enough to take us to the library that evening and get some new books for us to borrow".

Playtime

Seeing Renee's mum also known as nanny (to Nate and Tahlia), was home on her own for the weekend. We took her along with us to the Animal Park down in Bass near Philip Island for a day trip. It was a good day and the kids had a ball with the animals even with the small accident or incident with one of the native animals in the park. That did not even dampen her spirits on the day.

Wombat.

It was quite amusing as when we got there, we must have been one of the first people to the door. When we got to the kangaroos we could not even get into the gate as 2 males were there and trying to get to our bag of pellets for them. The kids thought it was quite amusing, Renee thought it was amusing comparing the size of the roos to little Tahlia, where Nanny was a little concerned for the grandkids.

"Can we take this wombat home" asks Nate.

Come on come on wheres the food.... l'm starving.

This roo was quite cheeky and even took the food out of Nate's hand and ate the paper and all. Nate laughed and said " mummy the kangaroo even ate the paper"..

Nanny and Tahlia. Here we are with Tahlia's new friends. She had no fear of these giant kangroos and happily chased after them wanted to be with them.

Baby tawny frogmouth and mum.

Tahlia and friend.

Lunchtime with friends. (this is just before another little wallaby came along and attacked poor little Tahlia). It was fighting another one at the time and Tahlia just got in their way. I suppose her being at the same height as them they got a bit confused. But she was fine a little shaken and with some scratching to her face.

Koala (took a while to try and find these).

Milly the Orphanged wombat and her carer.

Hairy Nosed Wombat. (there are not many of these left in the wild in Australia)

After our trip to the park we thought we would check out Cowes on Philip Island and take a walk on the beach, seeing the sun was out and it was a lovely day. Not even a breath of wind. Which was odd as usually when we are down there it is cold, wet or windy. So we made the most of it.

One cool little dude.
Till next time. Stay safe.

Winter is here (a catch up post)

Sorry have been a bit slack with the blog, too busy updating on facebook and forget about this page. Its been about a month since l last updated in here and so much has happened. Now to try and remember everything or most of the things that we have seen and done.

Tahlia's first hair cut. Well her fringe it was getting in her eyes and l thought l would try and make it a bit more neat. Does not look too bad.

Nige and his kids. A rare moment you find where they will sit and their photo taken. But now when they see the camera they say "Cheese" so cute. There is never many pics of myself as l am the one always behind the camera.

We have not had much rain this winter already and made the most of it to get out there. One Sunday afternoon after church we headed down to Frankston and enjoyed a walk down the beach.

All ready to walk.

They have done a lot of work down on the beach and are in the middle of making a boardwalk along the beach. Will be very nice when it is completed.

Ready, steady and GO!!!!!

Nate loved spending time on the beach and got excited everytime he saw a starfish or jelly fish lying in the sand. But did get quite annoyed at daddy as he wanted daddy to stop and look at every little thing Nate discovered on his journey. Both him and Tahlia were soon worn out after their big walk and fresh sea air.

You can see Melbourne in the background.

The cheeky monkeys. They certainly are the best of friends and love to play together. It is very cute to watch them and hear them giggling (which there is a lot of).

Well that brings up to the end of another month and where is this year flying to? I can't believe we are already in June now.
