Let the Veggie patch begin.

Not much to report this week other then the veggie patch is now under way.

Got the patch ready this weekend, which means turning over all the soil, add some chicken and horse manure (special thanks to the local farmers), and then place some straw over and add the right seeds.

Nige is the gardner, can't you tell.

He has planted (let's see if l remember them all), brussel sprouts, snow peas, beans, corn, brocolli, cucumber, lettuce (2 different types), s'berries, and thats all l think.

Here are some pics of our 2007 Veggie patch. Let's see if we can top last years produce.

Looking towards the back fence.

Looking at the passionfruit bush.. (looking a bit sad at the moment).

Oliver and the snow peas plant that were already growing in the veggie patch from last year. They popped up about 2 weeks ago.

Looking at the back yard from the verandah (and Nate).

And the other end of the yard and the rubbish we need to clear. (all from the extension and garden beds we had to move for the extension)

Are they just the cutest.

Some fun in the Winter sun

Don't think l have forgotten last week's post. Things here have been rather busy and the kids have had the cold the is lurking. But also we have had some much needed and wanted sun and managed to spend some time outside to enjoy it.

One afternoon Tahlia and Nate spent some time out in the garden. They were so excited (well Nate) was, but it soon grew cold so we were not out there too long.

It was Tahlia's first time to feel the grass and it took her some time to get used to it. I bet she can't wait till she can crawl around the whole yard and the grass not be wet.

But then l am sure by then she will be walking.... hmmm nothing will be stopping her then.

It wasn't me. I didn't eat no green leaf!

See Tahlia it is not so bad. Now there is nothing stopping her.

Nathan is his happiest outside. He could play out there all day. He certainly loves the outdoors.

Tahlia attempting to fed herself. Got quite a bit messy there for a while.

My two rugrats playing together.

We were sick of having to spend our weekends at home and stuck inside as it was too cold and wet to go outside. So one Sunday we went for a drive, to get out and have some family time.

Of course the boys had to check out Bunnings on the way.

So Tahlia tries her luck at driving. (and seems to enjoy it and sings along).

We stopped down in Hastings and had lunch in the park. We then had a wander to look at the boats and people feeding the pelicans.

Some real locals.

And after a hard day out, Nate dreams of his adventures.

One more month of winter...

We are all so glad winter is almost over and looking forward to using the warmer weather and our garden. Nathan just has too much energy to be cooped up inside , and is really wanted to get outside and play with his toys. You know boys and their toys!

So another quiet week at home, besides Playgroup and the ELC Centre (for Nate) we have not done much. Oh the victory blind guy came over the other day to measure the windows that need blinds.

So Guess what that means... I certainly hope you are all sitting down for this. The house is pretty much finished. Woohoo about time. The builder only has one small job to do now, which he is waiting for dry weather and not windy (which we have had a lot of wind and rain). As he needs to get up on the roof to do the last job.

Then we need to organise carpet in the kids rooms and blinds in the all the other rooms. Nige has not done much more on Nathans bed so we are not in any hurry for the carpet. He is using the rooms (yes both) to paint the car part of Nathan's bed, and the other room has the bed frame in there. Nige has been busy this weekend trying our new tent out... well putting it up and seeing how it all works. And also making a cabinet for the laundry so l finally have somewhere for my washing powder and out of reach of little ones....

Tahlia is getting more confident in her walking with assistance. She is a character as you can tell in these photos, she is blowing raspberries while walking all the way to me.

She is pulling herself up on everything now, and loves "wally" our vacumn cleaner, leans on it and has a "chat" to it. She is very fast with her crawling now and loves to chase Nathan around when she ever gets a chance. She also loves bathtime with her brother and loves the ABC letters that stick on the bathtub... and gums on them all the time in the bath.

Yes that means poor little girl still has no teeth. She is a bit fussier then Nathan was at this age with food. Her favourites would be banana, loves her veggies but is not too keen on meat at this stage. Where as Nathan loves his meat but not keen on veggies.

I made the joke to Nige the other day "Oh well that will save on food, one meal between them and Nate can eat the meat and Tahlia can have the veggies".. lol

Wednesday was the anniversary of mum's kidney transplant and now has made 16 years with the new kidney. So we all went out for tea to celebrate the milestone. Nathan enjoyed seeing everyone (as it is not often we are all together). There is even some funny photos of them eating lemons... and they both love them... no joke. The things we give our kids!

Lemons, we love lemons..... yum

Some more funny photos of Tahlia standing at the toybox and yes blowing raspberries as usual. She is not very often without her raspberry blowings.

Nige finally has been able to put together his BBQ l brought him for our anniversary last weekend.I know it was late but we have been waiting for our patio to be done so the BBQ has somewhere to call home.

So that meant a lot of empty boxes to play with. Nige made a cubby house but then it turned out more like a pirate ship for the kids to play in. Nathan and Tahlia (as you can see) love it.And also it entertained Nathan on a cold and windy Saturday morning.

Well best get tea ready now as we are out to see the Watoto Childrens Choir tonight. Be back next week with some more adventures from the Murden Clan.
